Mythological Legend

According to legend, Goddess Parvati once performed intense penance under a sacred mango tree to reunite with Lord Shiva. She is believed to have created a Shiva Lingam from sand and worshipped it with utmost devotion.

To test her devotion, Lord Shiva sent floods from the river. Parvati embraced the Lingam to protect it. Moved by her devotion, Shiva appeared and married her at this sacred spot.

This divine union is celebrated annually as a celestial wedding festival.
